"[Albemarle County] Supervisors ... voted to amend an ordinance that prohibited people from carrying firearms in county parks. The ordinance now reads: The discharge of any firearm, air gun, gas gun or B.B. gun is prohibited, unless expressly permitted by state law. Supervisor Sally H. Thomas ridiculed the wording of the law, saying: If someone sticks a firearm in your rib, you can say, You are going to be in real trouble if it goes off. During the last session of the General Assembly, lawmakers removed a
grandfather clause allowing localities to enforce regulations governing
firearms." (David Dadurka Contact David Dadurka at (434) 978-7299 or ddadurka@dailyprogress.com.
